There is a little lake by our house that we enjoy fishing on. We’ve been wanting to get out there this winter but it hasn’t happened yet. When we drive by lately, we constantly see people walking out on the ice fishing. So one afternoon this week, we decided to grab some bait and go see what all the fuss was about… safely from shore I might add 🙃

“It’s not worth falling through the ice for a couple of crappies”, my husband said.

I agreed but as we sat there, we watched as group after group continued to head out onto the melting ice to their precious fishing holes. It got me thinking…

•What is your precious fishing hole?

•Something you risk falling through the ice just to have more of?

Temptations run deep and in today’s world, we are in no shortage of options; lust, alcohol, drugs, sugar, processed carbs, fast-food drive-thrus, spending money, shopping, pornography, social media, gambling, gossiping, lying, self-harm, body image issues… list goes on and on.

No matter what yours is, because we all have something… I want to remind you today that God does not want you to stay stuck here!

“If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13

Paul wrote this letter to the Corinthians to remind them of three things:
1.) Everyone struggles with temptation
2.) Other people have defeated temptation which means you can to
3.) God will lead you away from temptation should you ask him

Sisters, too often we hide these things from the Lord. Either thinking he cannot see them or that he won’t love us if he knows about them. But we cannot hide anything from the Lord and no sin is too big that he won’t love us anymore.

Today I am encouraging you to bring your precious fishing hole to the Lord! Ask him for guidance on how to move forward through this struggle. Turning direction from temptation is your first step toward victory over it!
