Yesterday my daughter and I went on a fun little shopping trip!

We needed a couple of things to complete our Christmas home decor and decided to make a day out of it 🎄

On the way home, I could tell my daughter was pooped out from all the fun! As a seven-year-old, she rarely naps anymore but I encouraged her just to relax on our forty-five-minute drive home.

I explained that sometimes it’s important to just sit quietly with God and our thoughts. With no distractions from screens, music, or conversation, I soon looked back to see my sweet little Sleeping Beauty 💤

In our busy, go, go, go, culture, it’s rare for people to make time for quiet in their day. Some of us even make excuses that we’re not built that way or can’t make time because there is too much to do.

If that sounds like you, I am here today to encourage you to give yourself the pause and the quiet your soul so desperately needs.

Slow down.

Take a breath.

Listen to what’s around you when you don’t automatically fill the quiet with noise.

We talk about our health, wealth, and mind all the time but what about our soul? Our spirit?

God made us human beings, not human doings!

The idea that we constantly need to be hustling in order to be productive is a lie this sinful world tells us to try and pull us away from our Almighty Creator.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good, and pleasing, and perfect.” -Romans 12:2

God can RESTORE, REBUILD, REDEEM, & RENEW us but we have to make time for him!

Friends, I promise you time is not wasted in the quiet with the Lord. He often fills us with the exact comfort we didn’t even know we needed… Just like Ellery’s little car nap.

Have a beautiful weekend –
🤍Ashley
