I have noticed a common issue in many of my conversations lately and I feel led to address it today.
Are you ready for it? …. Busyness!
In my current circles, most families I speak with are finding their rhythms with school, sports, and church activities starting up again. They’ve shared about their full summer of camping trips, activities, and events and have jumped right into Fall with a calendar just as full with no sign of slowing down.
The world would like us to believe this is normal. That if we’re not rushing and running then we’re not hustling and therefore are going to fall behind and never live up to what everyone else is doing or what they have.
This is not only a lie from the enemy who longs to steal and destroy but it is also comparison in true fleshly form.
So what can we do about it?
First of all, finding true happiness, joy, and peace throughout our days is impossible without giving thanks to God!
“And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” -Ephesians 5:20
Secondly, what are we called to give thanks for? EVERYTHING!
So how can we give thanks for everything if we’re rushing through most of it? For instance, I rarely find other women my age who enjoy mundane chores like grocery shopping, cleaning the house, laundry, or prepping dinner. Are the “chores” really that painful or is there just no time to find enjoyment in them?
God made us all with different gifts, talents, strengths, and weaknesses. So if cooking isn’t your thing, you may never find it enjoyable no matter how much time you leave for it. BUT if it is something you need to do regularly, I am here to encourage you to find a way to make it more enjoyable and be able to give genuine thanks to God for it.
I know I haven’t arrived at perfection on this one nor will I ever, but I am so much better than I used to be – and I Praise God for that! I now do my best to soak in ALL the small things like our slow, peaceful homeschool mornings in this picture
As your to-do list follows you today, give God thanks for everything on it!
Ask him for guidance on how you could find enjoyment in your tasks!
Slow down so you can complete them without a stressful hurry!
You might just be surprised by the happiness, joy, and peace you find throughout your day!
