Daily Devotionals

For over a week, I have been in a battle with some robins. It’s a territory war. They want to build a nest above my garage and I say no. But those crazy robins won’t listen.
At least 8 times a day, they build a nest and I take it down.
Over and over.
And over.
Those birds can build a full nest in 10 minutes flat. I’ve tried to talk nicely to them but I’m getting fed up!
My hubby said we should concede and let them have the pergola because of their persistence, but at this point, I’m not giving in.
This is a battle of perseverance and I will not lose. However, it is exhausting how many times a day I have to deal with them. Yikes!
The whole situation got me thinking about my faith journey and how I need some of the robin’s perseverance to keep going when life gets difficult!
James 1:12 encourages us: “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
Hebrews 12:1-2 agrees: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
When the going gets tough, I often want to quit. But scripture tells me that there is a prize for preserving in the name of Jesus, so I know it’s important I keep going. Therefore, I ask God to step in a supply all I need on the days I come up short in the perseverance department.
Sweet Friends, if you feel like giving up today… consider this your encouragement to keep going. Don’t quit!
Persevere.
Ask the Holy Spirit to come and give you all the strength and joy and hope you need to face another day. It’s worth it.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving me so much that you send your Spirit to help me when I need it. Will you please help me keep going today? I feel like quitting and I don’t want to give up without a fight. I know you see my heart and you understand my weariness, so please empower me with your inner strength to persevere.
Thank you in advance for supplying all I need according to your glorious resources.
Amen
We are better together! If you need a cheerleader or helper to persevere today, don’t hesitate to reach out. You are loved and you are never alone!
