For the last couple of weeks, I have found myself whispering this psalm during the day.
I recite it when I feel overwhelmed by all of the changes and big things happening in my family.
It always helps me to feel better, and for that I am grateful.
Psalm 61:1-4:
“O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!”
Sweet Friends, as long as we are on earth, there are going to be seasons of life that feel overwhelming to us.
No matter the reason why, we can always run to the Father and ask him to help us persevere through it.
He is ALWAYS there to comfort us and tuck us into his loving wings. He may not remove the storm completely, but he will help calm our anxious hearts.
He is the remedy when our hearts are overwhelmed!
If you are feeling anxious today or daunted by the task in front of you, pray this prayer with me:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving me so much. Thank you for always being good. Thank you that I can trust you when things feel overwhelming in my life. I come to you today and humbly ask that you would bring comfort to my heart and peace and to my anxious mind. Help me fix my thoughts on you instead of my circumstances and give me the strength to walk the path you have placed before me. I trust you!
Amen.
