Saturday morning I had some alone time, so I sat down with my coffee, a blanket, and my bible to spend time with Jesus.
(It had been a long week and emotionally I was running on empty. So my hubby took our kiddos and disappeared for an hour. God bless him!)
Not two minutes in, before I could even open the Word, I was struck by the sunlight streaming into the windows and bouncing off my coffee table. It was beautiful; warm and glowing on the bitterly cold morning.
There is nothing quite like the light of the sun breaking the horizon line and chasing away the darkness of a long winter night.
Immediately, this verse flashed through my mind:
Luke 1:78-79
“Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace."
Oh the beauty of the light.
The verse is speaking about the coming of Jesus: the Light of the World. He came so that we no longer would need to stay in darkness- that we would always have a path to life.
John 8:12 explains:
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."
The amazing thing about Jesus’ light is that nothing can stop it! Darkness cannot win. When we live in step with Jesus, we have his power in us; chasing away the evil one.
John 1:4-5 promises:
“The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
How amazing is that? Light that cannot be overcome or snuffed out. Light that is stronger than any darkness!
Beautiful. Powerful. Victorious.
I snapped this photo to remind myself that no matter how dark and cold life feels, Jesus came and he was the light I need to see. He shows me a way where there is no way.
His light brings hope.
His light brings joy.
His light brings guidance.
Can I invite you to step into the Morning Light of Heaven today? Take a few minutes and invite Jesus into your day! Ask him to illuminate your path and light up the darkness. Wherever your life feels dark, lay it at his feet.
He will come to you, shining brightly, because he is faithful.
Oh Great Light of the World,
Thank you for loving us so much that you came to earth to bring light. Thank you that your light always overcomes the darkness. Thank you that even on my darkest days, you are shining brightly, keeping me in your loving hand. I invite you to shine in my life today; show me your plan and guide me on your path of peace. I ask for your light to fill me with all hope and joy as I trust in you.
Amen.
We are better together, sweet sisters.
May his light shine on you today and always.
❤️Mint
