For about a year, we’ve had a saying in our house:

“Praise the Lord.”

We say it when things are going well.
We say it when things are falling apart.

We say “Praise then Lord” when God works a miracle, and we say it while we wait on him to act.

Praise the Lord.

Why this particular phrase?

Because he is WORTHY! God is worthy to be praised no matter what is happening in our lives.

He alone is good.
He reigns above all other powers.
He has no equal.
He created everything.
His love is matchless and perfect.
He never fails.
He is the one and only living God.

So often, our praise and thanks for God becomes dependent on our circumstances, and not on his awesome character! We get so caught up in our own messes and how we think things should go that our praise ends up being conditional on whether or not God acts according to our wishes.

We lose sight of the magnitude of glory and goodness and we forget that no matter what happens, he is worthy to be praised! Not to mention he knows best and he has promised to work all things according to his good plan.

At my house, we wanted to help each other remember God is worthy of praise no matter what is happening:
When sickness strikes.
When a loved one dies.
When we aren’t getting along.
When the bank account is empty.
When a relationship stays broken.
When we don’t understand what God is doing.

We started saying this to each other in the good and the bad times, even with our kids. It’s helped us all to keep things in perspective and it honestly helps to align our hearts. It’s an instant heart correction.

Praise the Lord!

So… dear friend, I invite you to PRAISE THE LORD today.

You have the opportunity to proclaim his goodness no matter what is going on in your life. Here are a few verses to get you started:

Psalm 148:1-14
“Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens! Praise him from the skies!
Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven!
Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars!
Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!
Let every created thing give praise to the LORD, for he issued his command, and they came into being.
He set them in place forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you creatures of the ocean depths,
fire and hail, snow and clouds, wind and weather that obey him,
mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all livestock, small scurrying animals and birds,
kings of the earth and all people, rulers and judges of the earth,
young men and young women, old men and children.
Let them all praise the name of the LORD. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven!
He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones- the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the LORD!”

Psalm 150:1-6
“Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven!
Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!
Praise him with a blast of the ram's horn; praise him with the lyre and harp!
Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!”

Let’s pray together.

Heavenly Father,
You are more glorious than anything else on earth. Your name is higher than any other name. Your ways are greater than anything we could ever understand. You are full of goodness and your love for us is deeper than the deepest ocean. Thank you for being our God! You alone are worthy of praise! I surrender to you today, and say ‘Your Kingdom come, Your will be done.” Send me your Holy Spirit, that I may be strengthened to live according to your glorious plan. Help me to shine your light to those around me, and help me to praise you no matter what happens today. I love you and I desire to serve you.
Amen.

Praise the Lord!
We are better together.
❤️Mint
