Daily Devotionals
Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (Aminta)
Every morning my husband and I do Bible reading together and then we pray. We read a Psalm, a Proverb and a chapter in the New Testament. For the last couple weeks, we have been reading in the book of Revelation.
One thing that has really struck me about the book, which is a portrait of the final battle between good and evil and of God’s ultimate victory over the evil one, is that in every account of him being seated on the throne, everything and everyone around him is bowing before him and singing “worthy.”
Revelation 4:9-11 says:
“Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased."
Revelation 5:11-12 agrees:
“Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. And they sang in a mighty chorus: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered- to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing."
He is WORTHY.
He is deserving of all of the honor, all of the glory, all of the praise, and all the authority.
WORTHY.
He is worthy because of who he is!
He is worthy because of his great love for us! He is worthy because he sent his son to pay the price for all of our sin!
He is worthy because he is the only one who is perfect and true!
He is worthy because there never has been, never is now, and never will be anyone as awesome and holy as he is.
He is worthy.
No matter what is happening in our lives, he is worthy.
No matter what our feelings tell us about his goodness or his love, he is worthy.
No matter what today holds, he is worthy.
Sweet friends, can I humbly invite you to join me today in bowing before the Lord and telling him he is worthy? Let’s take a minute, join with all the angels in heaven, and give glory to the one who alone is God.
Heavenly Father,
I come before you today simply to give you all of the adoration you deserve. I declare that you alone are worthy of all of the praise on earth. I bow at your feet and join with all of heaven to cry “worthy”. You are the one true God. You are the King of all kings. You are the One who is Alpha and Omega. You alone are God. Thank you for being so awesome. I worship you alone, oh Worthy One.
Amen
We are better together!
