“Peace Be Still”

These are the words of Jesus from the gospel of Mark, and they echo in my mind this morning.

No matter how we feel today, can I encourage us to take refuge in the Prince of Peace today?

This may mean intentionally shutting off forms of media and not engaging with our world’s “noise” that distracts us from focusing on ultimate truth. I encourage you to feed on God’s Word today.

What if we made the bold choice of filling ourselves with valid principles found in the scriptures that will nourish the fruits of His Spirit... love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.

Here are some suggested tools of truth to hold onto today:

Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all times all people; pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Romans 12:18 “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Proverbs 16:7 “When a person’s ways please the Lord, they make even their enemies to be at peace with them.”

Dear sisters, fear and frustration want to bully you around today... to steal your joy and peace. Don’t let them take you for a ride. Take control and pursue the One who gives everlasting and transcendent peace to your soul... no matter the circumstances!

Take a deep breath.

And another.

Grab onto one of these scriptures and hide it in your heart today.

He is your source of peace. Your refuge in times of trouble. His presence is like gentle music inside your soul. Let it play like a harp over your heart.

Breathe in His presence.

He speaks peace over your storm.

Read Mark 4:35-41.

We are better together
