Daily Devotionals

I slipped away on a little vacay with a couple girlfriends. This break has been very special. Visiting the ocean always sparks a refreshed perspective of My Heavenly Father.
I love how the ocean makes me feel small…
in such a good way.
As I stand in front of such a magnificent, beautiful, and powerful body of water, I consider what I know to be true:
1. My God CREATED the heavens, the earth, the stars, the oceans… “He has no equal” (Isaiah 40)
And yet~
2. My God knows my name, every hair on my head, every thought and action, and has a personalized purpose for my life!
In that stance I feel small, but valued.
Small, and loved.
Small, and known.
Small, and protected.
Small, but significant… like a beloved child.
Isaiah 40 begs the question “Who or what is greater than God?” To which the answer is, nothing and no-one!
This ‘greater’ does not just include the idea of strong and powerful, but also protective, enduring, wise, deep… too great to be known or measured! A greatness that can only be approached and embraced by faith.
Isaiah chapter 40 concludes with,
“He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn’t get tired out. And he knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.”
He doesn’t pulverize us with his power, dominate us with his might or confuse us with his wisdom. Rather, he infuses us with strength! He fills us with hope and compels us forward in this crazy, messy, beautiful life. He holds all things together.
The one who holds the oceans also holds us! He covers us with love and empowers us to continue on through our hard things.
It’s ok to feel small (in and of yourself!) You aren’t supposed to be the hero and savior, He is! He says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness”2 Corinthians 12:8.
He’s got me… and He’s got you too, Sister. Take a plunge into the vastness of Gods power and protection.
The ocean (and for that matter the mountains, star filled skies, and all of creation) is not the only place to grow in the knowledge and experience of Gods power. The Bible as Gods holy scriptures, are often an unwrapped gift we don’t touch or open. Can I encourage you to read Isaiah chapter 40 to get a fresh perspective of Gods attributes?
You do not serve a weak or distant God!
He is powerful and very near - invite Him to work in your “impossible” today!
We are Better Together,
Paula
