I’ve been wrestling with the concept of time lately. As some of you know, we said goodbye to our family dog, Gus, of eleven years this past week. And as I’ve been managing all of the emotions that come with that hardship, the concept of time keeps coming up again and again.

You see, God provided our family with eleven years of unconditional love and companionship from our sweet Gus, and although eleven years sounds like a long time, once he was gone, it felt like it went by like that [insert finger snap].🫰🏻

Isn’t time an interesting thing?

No matter how wealthy you are, you can’t buy more of it.

No matter how poor you are, it can’t be taken from you.

Sometimes you wish it would speed up.

Sometimes you wish it would slow down.

Some seasons feel like they take a very long time.

Other seasons feel like they go by much too quickly.

And regardless of what you do, think, or feel about it, time just does what it does... it passes.

“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” – James 4:14

There’s nothing new under the sun, we’ve heard it a thousand times, and God even warns us about how fast our lives pass by, yet, still we struggle with it. What the heck can we do?

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.” – Ephesians 5:15-16

“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversations be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response to everyone.” – Colossians 4:5-6

MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY – Other versions may say, “Make the best use of time”.

Don’t confuse this with our culture's YOLO advice. This is our call to stand firm in the Lord and live the life He has blessed us with.

Because friends, I have a strong feeling that no matter how many years God provides us with, once they are gone, it will feel like they went by like that [insert finger snap]. 🫰🏻

Have a beautiful weekend enjoying this precious gift we call life–
🤎Ashley
