Good Morning!!!
I recently came across an analogy that has really helped me. It was in a book we have at the store about cancer, but I’ve used it for other challenges, and it has been such a helpful perspective. I hope this is encouraging to you this morning.
The analogy is this: it’s like a teenager’s messy room. You know the mess is there—it’s part of the house, and it might need attention. But you don’t have to let it follow you into the living room. You can close the door and leave it there.
This idea was originally written about cancer, but it applies so well to other struggles, like anxiety, grief, or even just the overwhelm of life. These challenges are real, and they matter. But they don’t have to take over every moment. Cancer doesn’t have to steal the joy of a family movie night. Anxiety doesn’t have to ruin a peaceful morning. Grief doesn’t have to overshadow every smile.
In Matthew 6:34, Jesus says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” This verse reminds me that it’s okay to trust God with the mess. It’s okay to set it aside for a moment and embrace the blessings right in front of you.
Whatever you’re walking through today, I encourage you to “close the door” on the mess, even for just a little while. The mess may still be there, but so is God’s peace, His strength, and His promise to carry you through
