As the election draws near, the intensity around anything political seems to be amplified a hundred fold.

You name, people are saying it or slinging it.
Honestly, I find it exhausting and terrifying all at once. I want to be a good steward of my vote this fall and stay informed, yet I want to shut out all the garbage that comes along with searching for answers.
It feels messy and it makes me anxious.
Then yesterday, while I was reading my Bible, I came across this passage in 1 Timothy 1-4:
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”
Verse two jumped out at me: Pray for all those in authority so we can live quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
Amen to that!
So, my post is simple this morning. No matter how you are feeling about the upcoming election, I invite you to join me in praying for the leadership of this country. Both candidates. Both parties.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being such a loving and powerful God. Thank you that you are in control, no matter what is going on in the world around us. Thank you for being good and merciful and just. We stand on who you are and how you love us, even when things around us feel hectic and horrible.
We lift up the Presidential candidates to you this morning and ask that your will would be done in their lives and in our country. Draw both of these leaders near to you and open the eyes of their hearts to see and know you. Nothing is impossible for you, God. Have your way!
We humbly ask for revival in the United States and a return to being a nation that acknowledges your authority and lives according to your principles. Your way is the best way.
Come Lord Jesus! We need you and desire you. Please keep those intend harm from being able to act. Protect the integrity of the election and make your way clear.
Help us to keep our eyes fixed on you and to trust you even when it feels crazy. We acknowledge that no matter what, you are the supreme authority and nothing is out of your control. Grant us your peace as we walk forward, trusting in you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
We are better together! Let’s pray often and fervently for our country, sweet friends. Every time we feel anxious, frustrated or mad, let’s pray.
