Don’t give up.
Thats what the verse I was reading yesterday morning said.
Don’t give up.
I paused mid-verse as my eyes welled up with tears and spilled down my cheeks.
Why?
In all honesty, this week I have felt like giving up… on prayer. Maybe the last couple of weeks actually.
I feel discouraged. And a little (A LOT) weary of praying the same prayers and not yet receiving answers.
It feels like it doesn’t matter that I pray.
My circumstances are not changing.
Have you been there?
I’m learning that part of the faith journey means pressing into prayer even when it seems like what I am praying doesn’t matter.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 encourages us:
“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
In other words, we are building faith muscles when we don’t give up! The adversity makes us stronger and helps us show the Glory of God to the people around us.
Prayer always matters.
Trusting God in the waiting matters.
Victory is coming!
So…don’t give up!
Sweet friend, no matter what you are facing this week, or how many times you have prayed for your breakthrough, don’t give up. Pray one more time.
God is working, and he will help your reach the finish line. Fix your eyes on him and pray again in faith.
We are better together.
