There’s just something remarkably inspiring about standing on the shore of the ocean observing the rhythmic and powerful waves crashing in, with a sunrise peaking over the horizon or the sun bowing the the end of the day like a curtain call.

I can’t help but be drawn in to the majesty of our Good God! I respect and love our Creator for his sense of instilling wonder and awe into His universe.

Standing on the shore of the ocean makes me feel really small… in a secure and good way.

Last night was our final evening of a little vacay with some family members south of the border. We rented a boat to enjoy a short sunset cruise.

Much to our surprise and delight, we spotted several humpback whales spouting and breeching!

I’m no whale expert, even though many years ago I convinced my kids that I could speak dolphin and whale fluently (with clicks, squeaks, whistles) 😂

But truely, I had never witnessed a whale in the wild before!

It was startling, the massive size of the gentle giant humpback. Erupting through the surface, spouting, and gliding over the top of the water… with a dramatic wave of its gigantic tail each time.

Again, I was reminded of my smallness and vulnerability. One might conclude that this idea was depressing, but it was quite the opposite!

I found it restoring.

Psalm 8:3-4 states:

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

The universe: there’s the billions of stars and galaxies, the 6 billion people on earth, the massive ocean, the mega mammals that swim thousands of miles in the Pacific…

Yet, the Bible says that God is mindful of us.

God watches over us closely. God cares for us deeply. God looks after us attentively. Before we were born, God knew us intimately. God knows our thoughts completely. He knows the words on our tongue before we say them. He knows our anxieties, our hurts, our hang ups. He knows our need for Him.

He is our powerful, majestic, massive, inspiring creator of all, and yet, he invites us as individuals into saving relationship with him.

That’s a whale of truth that I hope you consider today.

He is mindful of you. So much so that he lived and died and rose again to usher in a kingdom that has no end. He offers the way to the everlasting kingdom.

I hope that this truth motivates you today when all the cares of being a woman, an employee, a mom, a volunteer, a wife perhaps, crash on you with all of their weight and responsibility. It’s restoring to stand in the proverbial oceans edge and revive your wonder of our Good God.

Isaiah 55:3 says
“Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen and you will find life.”

Pray with me:
God, we know that keeping our ears and eyes open to your wonder and works helps encourage and restore us in our daily grind. Help penetrate our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit to be lifted in spirit and to follow your will today. Allow the wonder of your love to intrude into our highly structured agenda today. Amen”

Better together,
♥️Paula
