The next step of faith.
That’s what both of my boys did on Sunday evening at our home.
They took the next step in their faith journey by getting baptized!
It was awesome to be part of the experience and to watch them testify to their family and friends about their love for Jesus.
My mom heart was so proud.
It got me thinking about the faith journey… and how we have an opportunity every day to take the next right step of faith.
Every day. One step closer to Jesus.
For some, that might mean praying and asking God for help instead of trying to navigate life on our own.
For others, it might mean committing to reading the Bible and getting nourished by God’s Word.
For a few of us, it might mean finding a church to attend and become part of that community.
For still others, it might mean taking a big breath of courage and sharing about Jesus to a neighbor or coworker.
Maybe it’s time for you to get baptized!
Whatever it might be, can I invite you today to take a step closer to God?
Paul says it this way in Philippians 3:12-14:
“I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
Press on! Take the next step! Move toward your Creator and you will experience even more of what he has in store for you!
Heavenly Father,
You are worthy of praise! You are loving and faithful, full of goodness and kindness. Thank you for loving us and desiring to be in relationship with us. Thank you for meeting us wherever we are at and inviting us into more. Show each of us the next step of faith today… help us press in toward you! We desire to know you more.
