Daily Devotionals

We learned in the middle of the night that the majority of Americans are celebrating a victory this morning! And as always, there remain those who are disappointed by the election results.
It’s a great time to remind ourselves as Christians that the political narrative isn’t driving our behavior…the BIBLICAL NARRATIVE is.
According to Paul, as he spoke to the church at Colossae in Colossians, 3:13- and the church of Ephesus in Ephesians 4:2- We are to “bear with one another in love.”
If Jesus would’ve cut me off long ago because I lived in ignorance or apathy of Him, I would have never been drawn into a peaceful and life-transforming relationship with God.
It’s important that we don’t cut off completely from those we disagree with.
We must stay grounded and rooted in the Word of God, which is the ultimate redemptive narrative. Jesus drew close to and befriended, those who needed His transforming love. Jesus did a lot of “bearing in love” and Jesus taught His disciples to bear with one another in love.
He didn’t alienate them. He came to them! The motley crew of disciples were very different from one another. Some of them were bitter rivals and enemies… they were business owners, tax collectors, fisherman, political activists, etc., (If you’ve watched the Chosen, think of Peter and Matthew… or Simon the Zealot!) All of them were very different rascals! And yet, over time, Jesus taught them to “bear with one another in love.”
We can’t go wrong in making our mission “His kingdom come, His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
The same spirit of God that resided with all of the disciples and unified them… is also in us and with us. The spirit doesn’t spew bitterness or pride, but rather:
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness , faithfulness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the spirit, let us keep and step with the spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking, and envying each other.” Gal 5:22-26
Let’s be driven by the gospel narrative, which is a redemptive narrative. Let’s be strong. Let’s be salt and light. Let’s rush in and make our little corners of the world better today!
King Jesus is on the throne and reigns above it all!
Let’s pray!
“Jesus in your perfect timing, make us ONE. United in YOU.
Let us bear with one another in love. Amen!”
Better Together,
Paula
