Most days I share a story or a lesson I’m learning. This morning, I’d like to share a prayer with all of you based on Romans 12:2.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
“Dear Lord, I confess that so many days I’m too focused on my own comfort when it would be much more useful and purposeful to be focused on the transforming by the renewing of my mind.
Thank you for the way your word transforms us. Thank you for renewing our minds with your holy scripture. You help us discern your good and perfect will as we set about our day.
Strip away the parts of us that don’t reflect you. Help us be more like you with each new day. Remove our harshness and make us gentle. Turn our pride into humility. Shift our perspectives from critical to caring. Help us choose words that reflect respect. By the renewing of our minds, transform our irritation into joy and our discontent into gratitude.
The world constantly pulls us to conform to patterns of thinking that don’t align with Your ways and do not please you. We ask You to conform us to Your ways and guide us away from temptation. When the pressures of this world increase, may our faith increase even more. Holy Spirit, draw us in. Help us see how we can engage in the hurting world around us. Transform our hearts and minds today. May we be mindful of You and Your powerful word, and less focused on our own comfort.
Amen.”
